Residents live in the com- fort and dignity of a residential facility with quality health care delivered in the privacy of their own apartment home. Personal assistance and home health care can be contracted or arranged as needed. Charges are based on 15-minute increments, which makes this unique health care service very affordable. "We wanted to show seniors and their families," says Richard Webb, Rosewood's director of development/marketing, "that there can be an afforable, attractive alternative to nursing home placement." One reasonable monthly fee is actually less than a private room in a nursing home. There are no endowments or entrance fees and residents rent an apartment on a month -to -month basis. "I think the greatest compliment we received from one of our residents, who recently resided in a nursing home," remarked Webb, "was when she told us that after moving to Rosewood, she finally h?s her dignity back." Stuart Corporation, St. Paul, was the general contractor for Rosewood Estate. The 68-unit, 3-level community features seven individual apartment floor plans, including four deluxe apartment homes. All hallways and doorways are designed with extra width to provide ample turning area for wheelchairs. Other special features include: grab bars in bathrooms and walk-in showers, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, smoke detectors and sprinklers, electrical outlets placed high for easy reach, European style levers that make it easier to open and close doors, elevators, and a high lighting level throughout the building. All these special features make Rosewood Estate accessible for handicapped or elderly residents.
