Ryden, Fire Marshal► A <br />SUBJECT: Tire Rebuilding Plant - Reilly Tire Co. <br />As a result of our inspection of the current facilities occupied by Reilly <br />in Savage, I have several concerns over the proposal as it was explained to <br />us yesterday. It would appear that the building occupancy would best fit <br />into an H-3 Occupancy classification which would allow a basic area of <br />7,500 square feet, considering their intention to use a metal, "Butler" <br />type building. This could be tripled if the building is sprinklered. This <br />would appear to meet thier needs. <br />I would hold out for a high density sprinkler system due to the high heat <br />release nature of the tires. The major concern that I have is the noise <br />from the dust collection system. I am not sure that a 10 db reduction in <br />the noise level would be acceptable in that area. It would be best if it <br />could be located as far from other occupancies as possible and directed <br />upward to reduce to ground level nose. <br />If they are permitted to construct the building I think that it would be <br />a definite improvement in appearence of the exterior of their building and <br />grounds. I think that we should insist that they remove all of the trailers <br />currently being utilized for storage, if the building is constructeG. <br />AS liar as safety goes, they do have some lessons to learn and, of course, <br />we will be willing to help them learn them <br />(once <br />would operations. Other than that it appeared to be aclean,1esmoke1freeg�n operation with little noise that would be foriegn to an I zoning. <br />August 26, 1966 <br />
