Gary D. Tharaldson, who resides in Valley City, North
Dakota, owns and operates 13 motels in 5 states, including a newly opened
property in Burnsville, Minnesota,
Tharaldson owns and operates 9 Super 8 Motels, 2 Econo Lodge properties
and 1 Heritage Inn, which is in Lincoln, Nebraska.
THE HERITAGE INNS OF AMERICA. The Heritage Inn concept was developed
to fill a market void between budget motels and full -service accommodations
such as Holiday Inn and Howard Johnson Motor Lodges.
Typical limited -service, budget motels offer clean rooms and low rates.
Full -service hostelries offer such amenities, in addition to restaurant
and lounge facilities, as saunas, jacuzzis and exercise gyms.
The single room rates of budget motels are typically one-half the
rate of full -service properties. Not all business travelers or tourists
can afford the full -service lodges, but desire the amenities which they
offer.
Enter the Heritage Inn concept. Our Heritage Inns feature large lobbies,
an exercise gym, complete with a sauna and spa, a game room with a pool
table, office suites and a complimentary continental breakfast and an airport
shuttle. All at rates comparable to budget motels but with all the services
of a full -service lodge, minus the restaurant and lounge.
The exterior architecture of the building, designed by Edward H. Petersen,
AIA, offers a relaxing contrast to the industrial nature of the County
Road "C" and Long Lake Road area. The terra cotta stucco and dark red
clay brick, set off by white columns give the structure an aesthetic, residential
style of appeal often overlooked by architects these days. Cold, sterile
glass and masonry building clot the Twin Cities' landscape; the Heritage
Inn of Roseville is a welcome departure from that stereotypical design
hut.
