ci
u
tV 1. SRAQ1_i_pB1N
A Stormwater Management Plan is being prepared as part of the required
grading and drainage plan. The col lege is applying for a permit from
the Rice Creek Watershed District under which a detailed plan and
computer model showing all elevations, pipe design. pond sixes and
runoff rates will be shown. The Stormwater Management PI an is
expected to be approved prior to PUD acceptance.
The enclosed Grading and Drainage PI an, Exhibit F, addresses
information included In the Stormwater Management Plan, and describes
all grading and drainage improvements to the existing facilities.
The majority of the area of the cot lege in Roseville drains to the
exi sti ng pond I ocated just west of the exi sti ng resl dense hai I s.
Observations of existing conditions at the pond show the OHW (ordinary
high water) to be approximately Elevation 902.5. Historic water
levels between storms tends to be close to Elevation 901. Since the
current pond outlet is set at 905.6, It shows this area to have a high
i of i I trati on rate. Observations by college personnel indicate that
the elevation of the pond only infrequently reaches the outlet
elevation. The existing outlet structure is designed to skim oils and
f I catabl a materi al s as requi red by the Rice Creek Watershed District.
The following Is a I i st of proposed improvements to the existing
campus plan and the drainage modifications needed to meet requirements
of the Rice Creek Watershed District.
New Parking Lots A $ B are proposed to drain into the existing
pond. Exi st-i ng contours show the parki ng I ots natural I y drai n
toward the pond. Some ponds ng and/or drainage swat es or
cuI verts w i I I be used i n the parki ng I ots to improve drai nage to
the pond.
2.
New Parking Lots C and D are proposed to be designed to provide
controlled ponding and runoff on the lots themselves. Al I new
roads and parking lots are to be constructed with curb and
rgutter
to allow better drainage control. Additional pondi ng and
erosion control w i I I be prov ided as necessary to control the
runoff to Rice Creek and Little Johanna.
3.
An existing low area adjacent to the proposed Life and Health
Fitness Center, which currently does not normally have standing
water, will be developed to provide storage and detention for
runoff from the Life and Health Fitness Center and the proposed
new residence hall. Limited roof pondi ng will be provided on
both bu i I d i ngs .
1 -12- 8621
