Also, as you <br />will recall, it cost us $2500 to the interested pro— <br />perty owner to our immediate west. This ash ayment <br />allowed the transfer of the easement. Wecsubsequentl <br />sold the land back to the city at our original purchase <br />cost of $2.93 square foot to allow a 50 foot right of <br />way and a roadway. We agreed to the assessment not to <br />exceed $16,6?7 or 1/3 the cosy, of the roadway whichever <br />was lower. <br />We find ourselves in a situation where real estate taxes <br />have climbed beyond reason and certainly beyond what <br />we can afford in light of our operation. We rJed to <br />make some improvements in our property including the <br />screening of the rooftop units as agreed. We also need <br />to develop the outside dining <br />and our customers. as promised both the City <br />nal <br />improvements which we needtoaccomplish e also a bto be able <br />ler of erto <br />continue to compete vigorously with the major chains. <br />Because of all of this we are asking your consideration <br />in relieving us of the assessment burden of the $4,071 <br />per year.
