Mr. George Frisch, Chairman
Page 2
March 14, 1984
on the proposed facility. Following the environmental review
process the Agency has responsibility for the permitting
process with its attended public noticing, establishment of
conditions of approval and standards for operation and
maintenance. I believe the MPCA's environmental review and
regulatory programs sufficiently protect the public from future
problems associated with such treatment and recovery
facilities.
In summary, the MPCA staff supports the concept of central
metals recovery and processing facilities to serve the
pretreatment needs of generators .of inorganic aqueous solutions
and sludges. The MPCA's authority to regulate the generation,
processing and treatment and ultimate disposal of any residuals
offers protection of the public from potential adverse effects.
Thank you for this opportunity to comment on the proposed
Central Treatment and Recovery Facility being considered at the
public meeting March 15, 1964.
Sincerely
Sandra S. Gardebring
Executive Director
SSG:lah
r
