* Air emissions from the Facility will be limited.
* There will' * be no exterior deposit or storage of waste
materials.Numerous design features will prevent the acci-
dental contact of waste materials with on -site soils.
Specialized vessel and tank construction, internal storage
and diking, and specialized concrete flooring will be
incorporated. A dike system will be placed around the
Facility building.
* Proven state of the art technology will be utilized in all
equipment and process design. Processes will be largely
automatic, limiting human operator contact to a minimum.
Treatment and recovery processes will not utilize steam or
other forms of heat.
* Storage capacity will be strictly limited. Processed materials
will be moved off -site via specialized transport within
approximately one month. The main process residual will be
cleaned water which will be disposed to the sanitary sewer
system.
The Facility will provide numerous environmental benefits. it will
reduce the cost of pollution abatement and control facilities and
services. It will reduce the amount of heavy metals discharged on
or under the Earth'
s surface and will reduce heavy metal discharges
from sewage treatment plants to the rivers in the Twin City area.
It will recover and recycle strategic metals and thereby reduce
derp%ndence on foreign metal and the energy needs for the production
or virgin metals. The Fae `*y will improve the potential beneficial
use of sewage sludge from m4--.:ropolitan waste water treatment plants
and will reduce water consumption by recycling process water in
metal finishing plants.
. t
