•
•
CASE NUMBER: 1501-84
APPLICANT: New Horizon Child Care Centers Page 2
child care operation as a school allowable in a residence district. You
will note in reading the latter correspondence, that it substantiates the
position that the child care center is a residential use.
4. If the Ordinance is not amended, the other option for placing the child
care center on the proposed site is to rezone the land from B-2 to R-1.
We have discussed this with the applicants and are concerned that as the
area to the southwest develops for business purposes, the existence of a
child care center at the far northeast corner of the site, could be an
impediment to such development and possibly incompatible. Whether the
land is rezoned to R-1 or child care centers are allowed in the B-2
district, in this case, the result would be the same. The child care
center would be at a busy intersection and contiguous on two sides to
business development.
5. We have advised the applicants of the possibility that the City may not
wish to amend the ordinance or rezone the land. They are exercising their
right to request the change, so as to allow them to use the existing
residence at this location.
