Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, February 12, 2024
Page 2
Councilmember Strahan asked what the retaining wall looks like because there is
some consternation from some people about how this does not match the other
items in the area.
Mr. Freihammer reviewed the materials that will be used. He noted the technical
engineering part of the wall will be hidden with a new stamped concrete wall. He
explained the pattern chosen will look the same as what it looks like today except
for the ivy that is growing on it.
Councilmember Strahan asked if there are other less expensive options that are
available that would be reasonable consideration.
Mr. Freihammer indicated when the feasibility study was done, this was the
recommended choice based on the amount of excavation that would be required for
other types of walls which would end up needing more right-of-way or would be
more expensive to build. He noted this is the most cost-effective way to build this
wall.
Public Comment
Mayor Roe offered an opportunity for public comment with no one coming
forward.
Etten moved, Groff seconded, adoption of Resolution No. 12052 entitled,
"Resolution Awarding Contract for South McCarrons Retaining Wall Project 22-
22."
Roll Call
Ayes: Strahan, Etten, Schroeder, Groff, and Roe.
Nays: None.
b.
