Anti-icing is the liquid application of a salt brine mixture sprayed on the road prior to a snow storm
event that helps break the bond of hard pack snow to the pavement. The result is to use less salt after the road is
(a)
plowed. This system would be installed on a F550 cab and chassis and would be purchased under the Minnesota
State Contract # S-863(5) that expires on 2/29/2024.
The Roseville Skating Center is requesting approval for the purchase of a new Zamboni to replace the 2013
Zamboni that is currently used to resurface the ice. The resurfacer is used to resurface the ice each hour during the
operating hours (typically 16 hours per day, 7 days per week). The typical industry standard useful life for this
piece of equipment is 10 years, however our year-round use is heavier than most other locations. Our current
resurfacer has began to show significant degradation including battery failure, water pump failure and other age-
(b)
mileage based deficiencies. The purchase of the new Zamboni is in the 2025 CIP budget, but there is an average
lead time of 475 days for this product. Ordering the Zamboni at this time, would ensure delivery during the first
half of calendar year 2025. The existing machine will be traded in as part of this purchase to offset some of the
overall costs.
Qbhf!244!pg!367
