I am a very good listener, problem solver, and
critical thinker; all skills that I believe serve me well on this
commission. My volunteer work around Roseville and St. Paul
has given me a broad sense of some of the environmental
projects going on in the area. As a resident who frequently
drives, bikes, and walks throughout our community (and
occasionally utilizes public transportation) I also have a general
awareness of the state of transportation issues within
Roseville, though I recognize that I certainly would have a lot to
learn from others. Furthermore, as a member of the Roseville
school district’s Curriculum Advisory Committee, I have
experience listening to and considering multiple perspectives
and working to find solutions that are best for the whole
community. As a member of the PWET commission, I will
continue to draw on my personal experiences, as well as
others' ideas and concerns to help advise the council on the
best courses of action given the needs and constraints of the
city.
As a commissioner, how
I do not represent a minority or underprivileged group.
do you contribute to the
However, I recognize the tremendous need to make our
city's equity and inclusion
community and our world a more equitable and inclusive place.
initiatives?
I try to support this in my work with the Curriculum Advisory
Committee by embracing the district's Equity Vision, which
states that “Roseville Area Schools is committed to ensuring an
equitable and respectful learning environment for every
student, family, and staff member.” In my role on the
Curriculum Advisory Committee, I work with people of diverse
backgrounds and perspectives to try to understand where there
are needs or inequities in our schools that we can address
within the school curricula. I try to remember these various
perspectives and use them to shape my thinking in other
aspects of my life, including my work with the PWET
commission. I try to recognize underlying inequities in our
community. It is critically important that everyone has easy
access to parks, well-maintained roads, and affordable
transportation. Where any such inequities exist I will work hard
to think about ways we can correct that.
Qbhf!217!pg!413
