123 e)PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSIONERS NEEDED FOR TWO PLANNING <br />124 INITIATIVES <br />125 Staff relayed that the City is forming two new planning groups in which Parks and Recreation <br />126 Commissioners' participation would be valuable to the process. The committees are: <br />127 <br />128 The Natural Resources Master Plan Update: Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) <br />129 The City is working with Stantec Environmental Consulting to complete a natural resources <br />130 inventory, update the natural resources project list, and ultimately update the Natural Resources <br />131 Master Plan. Eighteen community member applicants will be part of the Technical Advisory <br />132 Committee (TAC). <br />133 <br />134 Commissioners Brown and Beckman acknowledged their interest in volunteering for the Natural <br />135 Resources Master Plan Update: Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). <br />136 <br />137 Bicycle Action Plan <br />138 The City was recently awarded an Active Transportation Planning Assistance Award from the <br />139 Minnesota Department of Transportation. Although in the early stages of planning, the City is <br />140 seeking a Parks and Recreation Commissioner to participate on the planning team. <br />141 <br />142 Commissioner Boulton noted his interest and availability to serve on the Bicycle Action Plan <br />143 planning team. Additionally, Commissions Brown and Dahlstrom relayed they would be available to <br />144 serve and attend daytime meetings. Commissioner Beckman stated she would be available to serve <br />145 and attend evening meetings and Commissioners Arneson and Baggenstoss noted their interest in <br />146 supporting the planning team. <br />147 <br />148 6.OTHER BUSINESS <br />149 a)DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES <br />150 The Guidant John Rose OVAL is now closed for the season. The attendance of skaters this <br />151 season was the largest on record. <br />152 The Cedarholm Golf Course is now open and will stay open as weather permits. <br />153 The Spring/Summer 2024 activity brochures are now in homes. Registration opened on <br />154 Tuesday, March 8 with more than 1,500 participant registrations completed on the first day. <br />155 The self-assessment for Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies <br />156(CAPRA) reaccreditation has been submitted. The next step in the process includes an audit <br />157 and virtual visit in May 2024. <br />158 The new park project at 2381 County Road B is currently out to bid. Bids are due March 20, <br />159 2024. Over 20 name suggestions have been submitted for the new park. <br />160 The Rosefest 2024 lineup has been released. <br />161 A brochure of Rosefest sponsorship opportunities is now available. <br />162 Open Mic Night at Cedarholm Community Building on March 21 at 7:00 p.m. <br />163 Tapping Time at Harriet Alexander Nature Center on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, <br />164 March 24 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. <br />165 The 2023 Annual Report was provided to the Commission. <br />5 <br />Qbhf!8!pg!39 <br /> <br />
