<br />VILLAGE OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Village Council Tuesday, July .3, 1956 <br /> <br />2 p.m. <br /> <br />The Ville.ge Council met on the a.bove date with the following members present. <br />Salverda, Carlson, McGee, and Hammersten. Attorney Robert Gearin and Engineer <br />Ed Ba~her were also present. Kitts absent. <br /> <br />'Jarlson Moved, Salverda Second~d the Minutes of the June 5,meeting be approved <br />as presented. Roll Call Ayes ~4)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />Hæmnersten Moved, Carlson Seconded the minutes of the June 12, meeting be <br />accepted as corrected. Roll Call Ayes (4)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />Carlson Moved, Hammersten Seconded the Jdnu~s of the June 26, meeting be <br />approved as presented. Roll Call Ayes (4)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />A hearing Trias held on the rezoning of the following described properÿ;y owned <br />by Mr. E. H. Peterson. It 1.¡as Mr. Peterson t s wish to have the property re- <br />zoned from farm residential to industrial for the purpðse of establishing a <br />trailer park. <br />The North 2!~.5 feet of the S.E.!, Section 8, Town 29, Range 23, <br />except the West one-fourth thereof; and the South h95 feet of the East 629.59 <br />feet of the N.E.i of Section 8, Town 29, Range 23. <br />The Planning Commissien recommended that ~le rezoning to industrial should <br />be denied", <br />Attorney ~·red Memmer appeared in behalf of Mr. Peterson informing the Council <br />that the trailer park would not be established until the sanit?.J"IJ sewer comes <br />into that area. He also told the Council that the proposed trailer park would <br />be of high grade. Mr. Memmer explained that the improvement of the land would <br />cost too much for low price homes, ~1d that higher priced hÅ“nes are not ~~itabß <br />for the property' :L-¡ q'J.estion c;:,;.e to a near hy :L-¡ål,c:;tl':LalÙ I:,.::;., <br />Attorney Belden H. Loftsgaarden appeared in behalf of the property owners <br />abutting to the South and West of the proposed site. A petition was sub- <br />mitte~ with the signatures o~ property Oi~ers :in opposi~ion ~ the proposed <br />rezonmg. Mr. Loftsgaarden informed the 0"rJllc~1 that h~s cl~ents felt the <br />establishment of a trailor park would depreciate the value of their homes. <br />He also e~lained the ~ll amount of tax revenue which comes in from trailM' <br />owners and~ that only 75¢ per month goes toward the schools. <br />The foUowing persons stated to the Council that they were in strong opposition <br />to the proposed reaming. <br />Mr. Balkin 2121 W. Hwy..36 - Infonned t.'he Council by letter of his opposition <br />to the proposed rezoning. <br />Mr. Memmer presented a tax table giving an example of two townships having trailer <br />com-ts. <br />Carlsoh Moved, Salverda Seconded the Council concur with the recommendations of <br />the Planning Commission to deny tb.8 rezoning of the property in question. <br />Roll Call A¥es (4)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />The Planning Commission reported to the Council that they have taken up the <br />matter of the St. Anthony Plaza Plat at their last regular meeting.
