Roseville Public Works, Environment and Transportation Commission
Agenda Item
DATE: April 23, 2024 ITEM: 8.a.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: Bike Plan Update
Background
Roseville was awarded an Active Transportation Planning Assistance grant from MnDOT that Roseville will
use to create a bike plan that complements our existing Pathway Master Plan. We held our committee
kickoff meeting on April 15, 2024, with staff from Roseville, Ramsey County, MnDOT, Roseville Area
Schools, a Roseville Parks & Rec Commissioner, an active Roseville resident, and PWET Commission
Chair Bryant Ficek.
We are developing the engagement plan and will bring more updates to the PWET Commission throughout
the process. At this stage in the process, we would most like the Commission's input on the bullets below. In
addition, please share any ideas or questions throughout the process with Jennifer Lowry.
1. Are there any gaps in our stated goals shown below?
a. All Ages and Abilities: Creates a safe, comfortable and convenient network that prioritizes the
most vulnerable roadway users, improving community access and safety.
b. Health and Well-being: Encourages a healthy active lifestyle for residents, improving community
health outcomes.
c. Transportation Choice: Increases bicycle trips and connections to transit, reducing automobile
trips.
1. Are there specific measures of success for the development and/or implementation of the Bike Plan
we should consider?
2. We are working with Roseville Communication to identify individuals, groups and events where we
can connect with the public regarding the Bike Plan. Do you have suggestions?
3. June 10-12, 2024, we have tentatively scheduled a Bike Summit to include a bike ride audit to
experience biking in Roseville first-hand, a network mapping workshop, and a demonstration
concept workshop. If you are interested in helping to facilitate or plan any of these, especially the
bike ride audit, please let us know.
In addition, a new website has been launched that includes a survey, an interactive map, and a way to
subscribe for updates. The survey will close May 20, 2024. Please share this link with your networks.
https://talk.dot.state.mn.us/roseville-bike-plan
Recommendation
Receive update and provide feedback to staff.
Attachments
None
