<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 4/22/2024 <br />Item No.: 7.a. <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br />Item Description: Consider a request to perform an abatement for unresolved <br />violations of City Code at 3119 Mildred Drive <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 The subject property is a single-family home. Current violations related to the abatement request <br />4 include: <br />5 Inoperable vehicles (407.02.G, 407.04) <br />6 Vehicles without current registration (407.02.G, 407.04) <br />7 Vehicle parked/stored on unimproved surface (407.02.G) <br />8 <br />9 Staff received a concern about unlicensed vehicles and general property maintenance of the subject <br />10 property on March 21, 2024. Staff confirmed the inoperable vehicles were on the property and left a door <br />11 hanger informing the residents of the concern and timeline for compliance (Attachment 4). Follow-up <br />thnd <br />12 inspections were conducted on April 1 and 8 with no progress observed. A 2 notice was mailed on <br />13 April 1. A notification of a City Council hearing was posted on the vehicles and the property on April 12, <br />14 2024 (Attachment 4). <br />15 <br />16 As of the writing of this RCA, no progress related to any noted violation or code compliance has been <br />17 observed on this property. A status update will be provided during the hearing. A map of the property <br />18 location (Attachment 1), a timeline of staff actions (Attachment 2), and cited City Code sections <br />19(Attachment 3) have been included with this report. <br />20 <br />21 Policy Objectives <br />22 The abatement of public nuisances are necessary to protect the public's comfort, repose, health and <br />23 safety. <br />24 <br />25 Racial Equity Impact Summary <br />26 There are no racial equity impacts related to this request. <br />27 <br />28 Budget Implications <br />29 The estimated costs of the proposed abatement include the following: <br />30 Removal of unlicensed, inoperable vehicles outdoors $0.00 <br />31 Abatement fee per Council approved Fee Schedule $350.00 <br />32 Total: $350.00 <br />33 <br />34 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Qbhf!:!pg!33: <br /> <br />
