<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 7/22/2024 <br />Item No.: 7.b. <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br /> <br />Item Description: Consider a request to perform an abatement for unresolved violations of City <br />Code at 182 McCarrons Blvd S. <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 The subject property is a single-family home. Current violations related to the abatement request <br />4 include: <br />5 Inoperable vehicle (407.02.G, 407.04.) <br />6 Vehicle without current registration (407.02.G, 407.04.) <br />7 <br />8 Staff received a complaint about unlicensed/inoperable vehicles on the subject property on June 28, <br />9 2024. Staff confirmed the unlicensed/inoperable vehicles were on the property and posted a notice that <br />10 a request to abate the violations would be scheduled for the July 22, 2024 City Council meeting <br />11(Attachment 4). A follow-up inspection was conducted on July 12. Staff spoke with the resident and <br />12 provided a second notice of the Council hearing on July 22. The resident stated that he would have the <br />13 vehicles in a compliant state before the Council meeting. Staff encouraged the resident to attend the <br />14 meeting to provide comments regarding the violations directly to the Council. Staff also provided a list of <br />15 resources should the resident need assistance in mitigating exterior property maintenance issues <br />16(Attachment 4). As of the writing of this RCA, no progress has been made related to the noted <br />17 violations. A status update will be provided during the hearing. A map of the property location <br />18(Attachment 1), a timeline of staff actions (Attachment 2), and cited City Code sections (Attachment 3) <br />19 have been included with this report. <br />20 <br />21 Policy Objectives <br />22 The abatement of public nuisances are necessary to protect the public's comfort, repose, health and <br />23 safety. <br />24 <br />25 Equity Impact Summary <br />26 There are no racial equity impacts related to this request. <br />27 <br />28 Budget Implications <br />29 The estimated costs of the proposed abatement include the following: <br />30 Removal of unlicensed, inoperable vehicle $ 0.00 <br />31 Abatement Fee per Council Approved Fee Schedule $ 350.00 <br />32 Total: $350.00 <br />33 <br />34 Staff Recommendations <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Qbhf!21!pg!557 <br /> <br />
