<br />Hispanic Heritage Month <br />September 15 - October 15, 2024 <br />Whereas:From September 15 to October 15, National Hispanic Heritage Month is <br />observed to celebrate the heritage, history, traditions, and cultural diversity of Hispanic <br />Americans whose heritage is rooted in Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the <br />Caribbean including: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, <br />Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Cuba, <br />Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.; and <br />Whereas:The national observation began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week and was <br />expanded in 1988 when the United States Congress adopted a resolution designating <br />September 15 to October 15 of each year as National Hispanic Heritage Month; and <br />Whereas:This heritage month is celebrated mid-September to mid-October to highlight <br />the independence of several countries. September 15 is the day that five Latin American <br />countries celebrate their independence from Spain: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, <br />Guatemala, and Honduras. Mexico celebrates its independence on September 16 and Chile on <br />September 18. <br />Whereas:The Hispanic community has had a profound influence on our country through <br />their strong commitment to family, faith, and culture and they have enhanced and shaped our <br />national heritage with centuries old traditions that reflect the multiethnic and multicultural <br />customs of their community; and <br />Whereas:During National Hispanic Heritage Month, the United States celebrates the <br />culture and traditions of Spanish speaking residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, <br />Central America, South America and the Caribbean. <br />Whereas:The City of Roseville invites all members of the community to celebrate 2024 <br /> Hispanic Heritage Month with a theme of “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future <br /> Together”; and <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the City Council hereby proclaim September 15 to <br />October 15, 2024 to be Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, <br />State of Minnesota, U.S.A <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Roseville <br />th <br />to be affixed this 19 day of August 2024. <br />Mayor Daniel J.
