<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 9/9/2024 <br />Item No.: 10.e. <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br />Item Description: Approve the renewal of a short term rental license for 1901 Shady <br />Beach Avenue <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 Chapter 909 of City Code requires the licensing of non-owner occupied short term rentals <br />4 of dwelling units, subject to certain exemptions. The original short term rental license for <br />5 1901 Shady Beach Avenue was issued on September 13, 2021. On August 3, 2024, an <br />6 application for renewal of the short term rental license was submitted by the property <br />7 owner. The property is a three-bedroom, single family home. The property owner has <br />8 certified and attested to the requirement of lodging tax payment, as well as, the maximum <br />9 occupancy of four or less unrelated adults or one family. The subject property’s current <br />10 short term rental license is valid through September 13, 2024. There have been no <br />11 nuisance or property maintenance violations confirmed during the current license period. <br />12 Lodging tax payments have been made for June 2024. Short term rentals licenses include <br />13 the requirement of minimum stays based on on-season (10 days) and off-season (7 days) <br />14 times of the year. This property is one of eight licensed short term rentals within the City. <br />15 <br />16 Upon renewal, the license will be valid for 365 days from the expiration date of the current <br />17 license. A current copy of the license must be posted in the rental unit, along with current <br />18 copies of City Code Sections 405, 407 and 602. Within ten days of Council approval, all <br />19 residential properties of one to four units within 300 feet must be provided a copy of the <br />20 City issued license. A draft of the license is provided as Attachment 2. <br />21 <br />22 The applicant has supplied all required license information and paid the license fee of <br />23$515. In accordance with Section 909.03, the process for licensure is outlined in Chapter <br />24 301, which requires presentation to the City Council.
