REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date: 9/9/2024
Item No.: 5.a.
Department Approval City Manager Approval

Item Description: Recognize and Accept Patricia Harrison’s Police Department
Donation

Background
Patricia Harrison, a longtime supporter of the City of Roseville Police Department's
community outreach initiatives, has generously offered a donation of $10,000 to fund Shop
with a Cop and homeless outreach initiatives.

Shop with a Cop is an annual holiday outreach program that provides an opportunity for
Roseville police officers to build positive relationships with younger members of our
community and their families.

Homeless outreach funding supports Roseville’s embedded housing navigator who works
with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, helping navigate resources to
secure safe and stable housing.

As required by law, a resolution is requested to accept this donation to further these vital
community initiatives.

Policy Objectives
Adopt a resolution allowing the police department to accept the donation from Patricia
Harrison to support the department's community outreach initiatives.

Equity Impact Summary
Patricia Harrison's donation will help us continue to provide community outreach to all
members of our community, especially those most impacted by homelessness due to
structural racism and disparities in access to health care, economic opportunities, housing
and education.

Budget Implications
Patricia Harrison's $10,000 donation will go into the Police Department Donations Fund and
will be spent on community outreach initiatives, including Shop with a Cop and Homeless
Outreach, as well as other internal and external outreach programs.

Staff Recommendations
The police department recommends Roseville City Council adopt a resolution accepting
Patricia Harrison's donation in the amount of $10,000 to support community outreach
Page 1 of 2
Qbhf!4!pg!26:
