<br />o Nutrient loading <br />o Lack of native propagules and plant species richness to respond quickly to <br />disturbances <br />o Lack of natural disturbance regimes (such as fire) <br />Staff presented an example of a management unit park map and an activity list to the <br />Commission. <br />The TAC developed the following vision statement for the Natural Resources Management <br />Program: Our vision for the future of Natural Resources Management in Roseville Parks is to <br />create accessible, educational, and peaceful natural areas that foster a deep connection with <br />nature. We aim to preserve and restore native plants and habitats, maintain biodiversity, and <br />implement sustainable practices to combat emerging environmental challenges. By establishing <br />connecting corridors and unique natural experiences, we will ensure our parks remain healthy, <br />beautiful, and biologically diverse spaces for all residents to enjoy. <br />The staff presented the goals and policies developed by the TAC regarding the Natural <br />Resources Management Program to the Commission. <br /> <br /> New vision for program: <br />o Continue areas of program that are working well <br />o Increase staff led events to two a month <br />o Increase volunteer led events <br />o Increase capacity to run additional events by having a dedicated staff member <br /> What’s working <br />o The number of volunteer hours continue to grow year over year <br />o Strong volunteer leadership base <br />o Increased flexibility and added supports for volunteers <br />o City Council support <br /> What needs improvement <br />o Increase staff capacity to grow the program <br />o Need short, medium, and long term planning of events and projects <br />o Recruitment assistance for additional volunteers to carry out the plans <br /> Next steps <br />o Completion of Final Report (November) <br />o City Council Review (2024) <br />o Inclusion of 50% natural resources position in 2025 budget <br />o Develop multi-year work plan and tie it to the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) <br />fund <br />o Identify funding <br /> CIP <br /> Attempt to capture grant funding <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
