REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date: 1/6/2025
Item No.: 8.c.
Department Approval City Manager Approval

Item Description: Approve Wayfinding Signage Locations

Background
On November 25, 2024, the City Council approved the wayfinding concept plan and overall
budget. The original concept showed only 14 signs but, after reviewing the quotes, council
supported using the entire budget so 24 signs are now part of the plan.

On December 2, 2024, the City Council approved two purchase orders for the signs. One
purchase order was for procuring the sign posts and blades and the second was for the
sign installation. The two purchase orders combined were for a total of $200,000 and
included some contingencies.

Since the last council meeting, Public Works and Parks staff worked to update the pathway
wayfinding location map based on feedback received. Ten additional locations were added
(shown in green on Attachment 1). Most of the added locations were on Lexington Avenue
and County Road B2. The locations chosen were based on continuity, pathway usage and
connectivity to various destinations. Each sign would have between three and eight sign
directional blades to direct pathway users to different locations. Each blade will be color
coded based on destination type. For example, park blades will be green and business
areas would be pink. Additionally, the miles from the sign to the destination would also be
included.

Policy Objectives
From the Pathway Master Plan: Provide proper signage for a safe, user-friendly pathway
network.

Equity Impact Summary
There should be no equity impacts associated with this agreement. Adding additional
signage should benefit all pathway users equally.

Budget Implications
The 2024 budget included $200,000 in ARPA funds for wayfinding signage. The two
purchase orders were approved on December 2, 2024, for a total of $200,000 and included
Page 1 of 2
Qbhf!9:!pg!33:
