Department Approval City Manager Approval Item Description: City Council Direction on Future Agenda Item Initiated by Mayor Roe - Amending City Council and Advisory Commission Rules of Procedure regarding public comment time limits 1 2 Background 3 Under Rule 9 of the Roseville City Council and Commission Rules of Procedure, when a Councilmember 4 requests that an item be placed on a future City Council Agenda, that item is placed on the next meeting 5 agenda for the City Council to provide direction on whether, how, and when the item will be taken up at a 6 future meeting. 7 8 Mayor Roe reached out to the City Manager on January 8 requesting the City Council have a discussion 9 on amending the City Council and Advisory Commission Rules of Procedure regarding public comment. 10 11 Mayor Roe proposes amending the Rules of Procedure to add the following language: 12 13 Under Rule 3, add new language as item "g": The public speaking time limits above do not apply to 14 pre-arranged presenters or to the subjects of or applicants for council action, or appellants or 15 petitioners to the council.
