<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 2/10/2025 <br />Item No.: 10.j. <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br />Item Description: Declare Vacancy for Additional Opening on Parks and Recreation <br />Commission <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 The Council annually appoints citizens to commissions. There is an unexpected opening on <br />4 the Parks and Recreation Commission due to the passing of Commissioner Jessica <br />5 Raygor. Council has the option to consider declaring one additional opening on the parks <br />6 commission for the Spring 2025 recruitment and interview period for a partial term <br />7 beginning 4/1/2025 and ending 3/31/2026. <br />8 <br />9 Policy Objectives <br />10 The city’s Appointment and Reappointment policy outlines the notification and selection <br />11 process for advisory commissions. The intent to to establish a fair and open notification and <br />12 selection process that encourages all Roseville residents to apply for appointments. In <br />13 addition, the city’s Strategic Racial Equity Action Plan (SREAP) has identified diversifying <br />14 city commissions as a high impact area of focus. Racially and ethnically diverse policy <br />15 makers and advisors are key to serving residents and other customers with excellence. <br />16 <br />17 Equity Impact Summary <br />18 Racially and ethnically diverse policy-makers and policy advisors are key to serving <br />19 residents and other customers with excellence. The role of appointed boards, commissions, <br />20 and councils is to advise the Mayor and Council on city policies and practices.
