<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 2/24/2025 <br />Item No.: 7.c. <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br /> <br />Item Description: Consider a request to perform an abatement for unresolved violations of City <br />Code at 1240 Ryan Ave W <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 The subject property is an occupied, single family home. Current violations related to the abatement <br />4 request include: <br />5 Outside storage of lumber, furniture, and misc. materials on both sides of the garage (407.02.C, <br />6 407.04.I) <br />7 <br />8 Staff received a concern regarding household and other items stored outside at this residence on <br />9 January 7, 2025. Staff visited the property and confirmed the violation. A door hanger was left on site <br />10 detailing the violations and a timeline for correction. A repeat nuisance service call fee was invoiced and <br />11 sent to the property on January 8, 2025. Staff conducted an additional inspection on January 27, with no <br />12 corrections or progress noted. A letter was drafted and sent to the property. A subsequent inspection on <br />13 February 3, 2025, showed no progress toward code compliance. Staff delivered a Council hearing <br />14 notification on February 14, 2025. While on site staff was able to discuss the concern with a resident of <br />15 the property. He stated that he understood the issue and thought that the items could be removed or <br />16 placed into inside storage by Monday, February 18. An inspection on February 18 showed no progress <br />17 or corrections to the code violation. <br />18 <br />19 As of the writing of this RCA, no progress related to any noted violation or code compliance has been <br />20 observed on this property.
