<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 4/7/2025 <br />Item No.: 7.a. <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br /> <br />Item Description: Consider a request to perform an abatement for unresolved violations of City <br />Code at 786 Sandhurst Drive <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 The subject property is an occupied, single family home. Current violations related to the abatement <br />4 request include: <br />5 Inoperable vehicle (407.02.G, 407.04.D) <br />6 Vehicle without current registration (407.02.G, 407.04.D) <br />7 This property has been notified of City Code violations on 07/24/24, 08/07/24, 08/14/24, 11/21/24, <br />8 12/12/24 and 03/24/25 (Attachment 4). In addition, the property owner was sent two administrative <br />9 citations related to the noted violations (Attachment 4). Site visits and inspections were conducted prior <br />10 to each notice being mailed or delivered (Attachment 2). Staff received communication (Attachment 4) <br />11 from the property owner stating that he understood the violations and had plans for the correction, but <br />12 to-date compliance has not been observed. A final notice was posted on the property detailing the <br />13 violations and notification of the Council hearing date of April 7, 2025 (Attachment 4). <br />14 <br />15 As of the writing of this RCA, no progress related to any noted violation has been observed on this <br />16 property. A status update will be provided during the hearing. <br />17 <br />18 Policy Objectives <br />19 The abatement of public nuisances is necessary to protect the public's comfort, repose, health and <br />20 safety. <br />21 <br />22 Equity Impact Summary <br />23 Equity impacts related to this request have not been evaluated. <br />24 <br />25 Budget Implications <br />26 The estimated costs of the proposed abatement include the following: <br />27 <br />28 Removal of unlicensed, inoperable vehicle stored outdoors: $0.00 <br />29 Abatement fee per Council approved Fee Schedule: $350.00 <br />30 Total: $ 350.00 <br />31 <br />32 Staff Recommendations <br />33 Staff recommends the Council direct Community Development staff to abate the above referenced <br />34 public nuisance violations at 786 Sandhurst Drive. <br />35 <br />36 Requested Council Action <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Qbhf!4!pg!231 <br /> <br />
