The call volume, opportunity for
field experience, and department culture provide a welcoming opportunity for students to
receive real-world clinical experience to support their academic goals. The department has
partnered with Ridgewater to provide EMS clinical opportunities for students. This is a five-
year agreement to allow an agreed-upon partnership between Ridgewater and the City of
Roseville.

This agreement allows paramedic students to ride-along with Roseville Fire in an effort to
gain valuable experience as well as meet established clinical hours and patient contact
requirements. All the students involved will ride along with and shadow Roseville Fire
paramedics and EMTs and only be allowed to assist under the guidance of a Roseville Fire
member. The attached agreement lays out the expectations and requirements of the
College, the Facility (Roseville Fire) and the students participating in the clinical
opportunities. This agreement has been fully reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.

Policy Objectives
To provide equitable, structured, and educational ride-along experiences that enhance
EMT/paramedic trainee competency, foster community engagement, and promote diversity
and inclusion within emergency medical services. The program aims to ensure all
participants gain meaningful exposure to real-world pre-hospital care while upholding the
dignity, safety, and trust of the community served.

Equity Impact Summary
This exposure is essential for clinical education, building cultural competence, and fostering
career interest in emergency medical fields.

Budget Implications
There are no additional costs for the fire department to participate and accept this
agreement.

Staff Recommendations
Qbhf!237!pg!248
