Summer recreation staff training will take place from June 11–13, with 50 staff members <br />participating. Training will prepare staff for the upcoming season of programs. Recreation <br />programs are set to begin the week of June 16. <br /> Training for the new recreation management software, Dash, has begun for Parks and <br />Recreation staff. It is anticipated that the new software will be launched to the community in <br />November 2025. <br /> The Campus Master Plan presentation to the City Council is scheduled for June 16. The <br />delay in the presentation has allowed the consultant to explore additional options, resulting in <br />promising ideas for potentially reusing existing space. Staff noted that the updated concepts <br />appear to thoughtfully meet the needs of the Parks and Recreation Department. <br /> <br />b) OTHER NEW OR RELEVANT COMMUNICATION ITEMS <br />Assistant Director Carrie Anderson formally introduced herself to the Commission. <br />5.BUSINESS ITEMS <br />a)PARK TOUR OVERVIEW <br />Staff noted that the current Air Quality Index (AQI) was 160. Due to the poor air quality, no <br />strenuous activity was planned for the park tour, and stops at Reservoir Woods, Oasis, and <br />Autumn Grove Parks were expected to be brief. <br /> <br />Staff also offered to arrange an alternative tour date for any Commissioners with air quality <br />concerns; however, no objections were raised to moving forward with the planned tour. <br /> <br />b) RESERVOIR WOODS PARK - 1901 ALTA VISTA DRIVE (ANTICIPATED ARRIVAL <br />TIME, 6:50PM) <br />Commissioners visited several sites in the park. They discussed the current convergence of <br />recreational usage such as hiking and biking, with some adverse natural resource impacts – <br />namely erosion. The Commission expressed interest in learning more about whether sanctioned <br />mountain biking in a specific portion of the park might be beneficial. <br /> <br />The Commission also reviewed how Reservoir Woods has benefited from the Natural Resources <br />Management Program. <br /> <br />c) OASIS PARK - 1700 CO. RD. C2 (ANTICIPATED ARRIVAL TIME, 7:20PM) <br />The Commission reviewed the Community Gardens and discussed how garden plots were <br />assigned each year. Staff also addressed an ongoing maintenance issue with the park building <br />and noted the challenges associated with maintaining lesser-used neighborhood ballfields. <br /> <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
