Attachment 1 SOF REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: July 22, 2024 Item No.: De Appr al City Manager Approval Item Description: Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Commission Joint Meeting with the City Council 1 BACKGROUND 2 Each year, the Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Commission meets with the City 3 Council to review activities and accomplishments, and to discuss the upcoming year's work plan and 4 other potential issues to consider. The following are activities over the past year and issues the 5 Commission tentatively will have in the future agendas in the next year. Additionally, the 6 Commission plans to share their thoughts on the value of being part of the commission and their 7 experiences as commission members. s Activities and accomplishments: 9 o PWET scope change recommendations — Council approved changes to the commission code 10 o Street Name Change Policy — Council adopted policy 11 o Sustainability Topics — 4m Annual Sustainability Super Meeting 12 o Transit Update from Met Council 13 o Numerous Staff Updates — Construction projects, Recycling Updates, MS4, Sustainability, 14 Utility Rates, Pavement Management 15 o Tour of the Saint Paul Regional Water Services plant 16 Work Plan items for the upcoming year: 17 o Green to Go Ordinance 18 o The commission plans to discuss this topic at the July 23 PWET meeting 19 o Development of Bike Plan 20 o Recycling Contract 21 o Update on the Roseville area transit system 22 o Public safety as it relates to transportation and infrastructure 23 o Pavement management funding 24 Questions or Concerns for the City Council: 25 o Any feedback on speed limit discussion to date? 26 o What is Council's vision for overlapping topics such as trees or other topics involving 27 multiple commissions?
