REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 9/15/2025 <br />Item No.: 7.b. <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description:Joint Meeting with the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 Each year, the City Council meets with the various commissions to review activities and <br />4 accomplishments, and discuss upcoming work and other issues that need to be <br />5 considered. Since the Commission's last meeting with the City Council in September of <br />6 2024, they have reviewed and provided feedback on a wide variety of parks and recreation <br />7 related issues (attachment 1). <br />8 <br />9 A few highlights include: <br />10 Reviewed and provided feedback throughout the Natural Resources Management <br />11 Plan Update <br />12 Supported staff efforts to procure grant funding for Natural Resources Management <br />13 Reviewed and provided feedback on 2026 Capital Projects <br />14 o Lexington Playground <br />15 o OVAL Scoreboard <br />16 o Various Facility Updates <br />17 Reviewed and discussed the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan. <br />18 Provided recommendation to move forward with Rosebrook Park updates, including <br />19 replacement of the wading pool with a splash pad. <br />20 Conducted its annual review of, and recommendation on, the deer management <br />21 program. <br />22 Met with staff to review operations for: <br />23 o Recreation programs, <br />24 o Rosefest, <br />25 o Cedarholm Community Building, <br />26 o Park projects, <br />27 o Summer Entertainment. <br />28 The Commission also updated the format and tracking of its goals (attachment 2) and will <br />29 share a couple of goals that are currently in progress with the Council. <br />30 <br />31 Based on their discussions and goals, the Commission will share feedback with the <br />32 Council. <br />33 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Qbhf!21!pg!354 <br /> <br />
