125 <br />126 Chair Ficek highlighted the importance of sustainability and the advantages of <br />127 keeping the site open. <br />128 <br />129 Mr. Freihammer mentioned the possibility of leasing equipment or hiring a <br />130 private company for compost turning. He noted staff looked into this in the past <br />131 but not recently. There would still be a cost and it could be high due to numerous <br />132 mobilizations since there is a limited market to lease or rent for smaller sites. <br />133 <br />134 Motion <br />135 Chair Ficek moved, Member Mueller seconded, to keep the site open, gather <br />136 more data, and explore options for leaf management, with plans to revisit the <br />137 decision in 2026 after collecting additional information and exploring further <br />138 options. <br />139 <br />140 Ayes: 7 <br />141 Nays: 0 <br />142 Motion carried. <br />143 <br />144 The commission supported keeping the organic collection where it was for now, <br />145 regardless of what happened to the leaf recycling, and then exploring the possibility <br />146 of moving the organics to the City Campus, which would keep it reasonably close <br />147 for residents and provide visibility and accessibility as well. <br />148 <br />149 Member Fergusmoved, Member Hodderseconded, to keep the organic <br />150 collection where it is currently located and explore moving it to the City Hall <br />151 Campus in the future. <br />152 <br />153 Ayes: 7 <br />154 Nays: 0 <br />155 Motion carried. <br />Page 4of 4 <br />Qbhf!:5!pg!:15 <br /> <br />
