Attachment 2
2026 Capital Improvement Plan
Project/Initiative Summary
Department/Division: Water
Project/Initiative Title: Water AMR Meter Replacements
Total Estimated Cost: $200,000
Funding Source: Water Vehicle & Equipment Fund (franchise fees)
Annual Operating Budget Impact: $0
Project/Initiative Description:
This line item is to proactively replace R-450 radios that transmit data from water meters in homes
and businesses with new R-900 radios. The existing R-450 radios are old failing technology. Once
the radios fail, the City has to do manual meter reads which take more staff time and are
inconvenient to residents. By proactively replacing the radios, the City can prevent loss of
communication due to radio failure. Additionally, the work can be scheduled as staff capacity
allows, which results in cost savings compared to doing a bigger project over a short period of
time with a contractor. This project is funded by both the water and sewer funds since utility bills
for each utility are based on these meters.

Location:
Various Locations in the City

Page 91
Qbhf!282!pg!472
