<br />41 5.BUSINESS ITEMS <br />42 a)CONSIDER THE CONVERSION OF CENTRAL PARK VICTORIA TENNIS COURTS <br />43 TO SHARED USE PICKLEBALL/TENNIS COURTS <br />44 Background and Context <br />45 o Pickleball has been one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States for more <br />46 than 15 years. <br />47 o Community demand for additional pickleball courts continues to increase. <br />48 o In 2016, Roseville striped the Evergreen Park courts for dual use; the courts were <br />49 converted to six full-time pickleball courts in 2022. <br />50 o The Evergreen Park pickleball courts now rank among the most heavily used <br />51 amenities in the park system and are often at or over capacity. <br />52 Community Need and Community Input <br />53 o Ongoing community requests for additional pickleball courts, including courts in new <br />54 and different locations. <br />55 o Noise is typically the most significant challenge when siting new pickleball courts. <br />56 Best practice guidelines suggest a minimum separation of approximately 200 <br />57 feet from residential homes. <br />58 Some recommendations suggest separations of up to 400 feet, depending on <br />59 site conditions. <br />60 Tennis in Roseville <br />61 o Tennis participation continues to grow, though at a slower rate than pickleball. <br />62 o Depending on the source, there are currently a roughly equivalent number of <br />63 pickleball and tennis players nationwide. <br />64 o Roseville’s tennis courts are well used across the park system. <br />65 Courts in Roseville <br />66 o Acorn Park – 2 tennis courts <br />67 o Autumn Grove Park – 2 tennis courts <br />68 o Sandcastle Park – 1 tennis court <br />69 o Howard Johnson Park – 2 tennis courts <br />70 o Bruce Russell Park – 1 tennis court <br />71 o Rosebrook Park – 2 tennis courts <br />72 o Keya Park – 2 tennis courts <br />73 o Central Park (Victoria) – 2 tennis courts <br />74 o Education Center – Courts available through a shared-use agreement; <br />75 currently showing structural issues and in need of evaluation <br />76 o Evergreen Park – 6 pickleball courts <br />77 Central Park Victoria Courts Overview <br />78 Two existing tennis courts are scheduled for refurbishment in 2026. <br />79 The site has strong existing infrastructure, including: <br />80 o Ample parking <br />2 <br />Qbhf!5!pg!29 <br /> <br />
