<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 1/5/2026 <br />Item No.: 7.c. <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description:Consider Commission Reappointments and Vacancies for 2026 <br />1 <br />2 Background <br />3 The Council annually appoints citizens to commissions. Council has the option to interview <br />4 returning commissioners for reappointment or make reappointments without interviewing. <br />5 This agenda item provides details regarding those commissioners who are interested in <br />6 reappointment for an additional term beginning April 1, 2026. Council also has the option to <br />7 consider reappointing commissioners tonight, or at a future City Council meeting. <br />8 <br />9 The proposed timeline is below: <br />10 <br />January 5 Council considers commissioners who are seeking <br />reappointment for a term beginning April 1, 2026. Determine if <br />council wants to re- interview any current commissioners. <br />Council declares vacancies on various commissions. <br />Council confirms interview dates and reappointment process. <br />January 6 Staff updates website and other materials to reflect the <br />application period, interview dates and process, and continues <br />active recruitment efforts. <br />February 6 Application period closes. <br />February 17 and 19 Interviews are scheduled for new applicants and/or any <br />commissioners council seeks to re-interview. Depending upon <br />the number of applicants, a second night may or may not be <br />necessary. <br />March 2 Council appoints applicants to various commission vacancies for <br />terms beginning April 1, 2026. <br />March 3-10Online Commissioner Orientation. <br />April 8 Ethics Training is scheduled. <br />11 <br />12 REAPPOINTMENTS AND TERMS ENDING FOR 2026 <br />13 Commissioners are appointed to terms that begin April 1 of each year.
