BUSINESS ITEMS <br />a) CONSIDER THE CONVERSION OF CENTRAL PARK VICTORIA TENNIS COURTS <br />TO SHARED USE PICKLEBALL/TENNIS COURTS <br /> Background and Context <br />o Pickleball has been one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States for more <br />than 15 years. <br />o Community demand for additional pickleball courts continues to increase. <br />o In 2016, Roseville striped the Evergreen Park courts for dual use; the courts were <br />converted to six full-time pickleball courts in 2022. <br />o The Evergreen Park pickleball courts now rank among the most heavily used <br />amenities in the park system and are often at or over capacity. <br /> Community Need and Community Input <br />o Ongoing community requests for additional pickleball courts, including courts in new <br />and different locations. <br />o Noise is typically the most significant challenge when siting new pickleball courts. <br /> Best practice guidelines suggest a minimum separation of approximately 200 <br />feet from residential homes. <br /> Some recommendations suggest separations of up to 400 feet, depending on <br />site conditions. <br /> Tennis in Roseville <br />o Tennis participation continues to grow, though at a slower rate than pickleball. <br />o Depending on the source, there are currently a roughly equivalent number of <br />pickleball and tennis players nationwide. <br />o Roseville’s tennis courts are well used across the park system. <br /> Courts in Roseville <br />o Acorn Park – 2 tennis courts <br />o Autumn Grove Park – 2 tennis courts <br />o Sandcastle Park – 1 tennis court <br />o Howard Johnson Park – 2 tennis courts <br />o Bruce Russell Park – 1 tennis court <br />o Rosebrook Park – 2 tennis courts <br />o Keya Park – 2 tennis courts <br />o Central Park (Victoria) – 2 tennis courts <br />o Aŋpétu Téča Education Center – Courts available through a shared-use agreement; <br />currently showing structural issues and in need of evaluation <br />o Evergreen Park – 6 pickleball courts <br /> Central Park Victoria Courts Overview <br /> Two existing tennis courts are scheduled for refurbishment in 2026. <br /> The site has strong existing infrastructure, including: <br />o Ample parking <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
