34 4.Commissioners are well-informed on issues related to their commission scope.
35
36 This item aligns with the Community and Civic Engagement strategic priority and supports
37 the desired impact that Roseville’s public, across all demographics, feels informed and
38 valued for its feedback and input. Appointing residents to advisory commissions advances
39 Goal #2.
40
41 Advisory commissions provide an important and ongoing opportunity for residents to
42 participate directly in city decision-making and policy discussions. Through the appointment
43 process, the City Council has a direct opportunity to move the needle on several of the
44 strategic plan's success indicators for this goal, as well as ensuring residents are aware of
45 and understand opportunities for participation on city commissions.
46
47 Regular appointments also support the development of well-informed commissioners who
48 understand their role and feel they have an impact in city decision-making. Collectively,
49 these appointments help strengthen representative community participation and advance
50 the City’s goals for inclusive and meaningful civic engagement.
51
52 Equity Impact Summary
53 Diverse policy-makers and policy advisors are key to serving residents and other
54 customers with excellence. The role of appointed boards, commissions, and councils is to
55 advise the Mayor and Council on city policies and practices. A governing body that mirrors
56 our population increases City government access to great ideas, strengthens innovation
57 and problem-solving, and ensures we are representing the viewpoints and considerations
58 of all our communities.
59
60 Budget Implications
61 None.
62
63 Staff Recommendations
64 Staff recommends that the Council make appointments to the Equity and Inclusion,
65 Finance, Planning, and Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Commissions.
66
67 Requested Council Action
68 Appoint _____________ to the Equity and Inclusion Commission for a partial term ending March
69 31, 2028.
70 Appoint _____________ to the Finance Commission for a term ending March 31, 2029.
71 Appoint _____________ to the Finance Commission for a term ending March 31, 2029.
72 Appoint _____________ to the Finance Commission for a term ending March 31, 2029.
73 Appoint _____________ to the Planning Commission for a term ending March 31, 2029.
74 Appoint _____________ to the Planning Commission for a term ending March 31, 2029.
75 Appoint _____________ to the Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Commission for a
76 term ending March 31, 2029.
77
78
Rachel Boggs
Prepared by:
1.10.20.2025_Appointment and Reappointment Policy
Attachments:
Qbhf!216!pg!263
