Fair Housing Month <br />April 2026 <br />Whereas:The month of April marks the anniversary of the passage of the Federal Fair <br />Housing Law of 1968, recognizing that no American should have their right to purchase or rent <br />shelter of choice abridged because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or <br />national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity; and <br />Whereas:Equitable access for all is a fundamental policy of this nation and the City of <br />Roseville; and <br />Whereas:The location where people live has a direct impact on the quality of their health, <br />education and access to economic opportunities; and <br />Whereas:Historical racial discriminatory housing practices, often referred to as redlining, <br />have created lasting racial and economic segregation in communities that have created disparate <br />outcomes in overall quality of life, including access to homeownership, quality education, <br />healthcare, and transportation as a few examples; and <br />Whereas:The City of Roseville, as part of its commitment to being a leader in creating a <br />more just and inclusive community for all passed a resolution on July 11, 2022, joining The Just <br />Deeds Project to help homeowners discharge discriminatory language from their property titles; <br />and <br />Whereas:Economic stability, community health, and human relations in all communities <br />are improved by diversity and integration; and <br />Whereas:The City of Roseville adopted a Fair Housing Policy on November 5, 2018 <br />certifying that it will affirmatively further fair housing, making way for receipt of federal <br />community development funds in service of this goal; and <br />Whereas:The City of Roseville, through its strategic plan, is further committed to <br />promoting housing access and choice and fostering inclusive communities, free from housing <br />discrimination so housing types are provided in a manner that meets the life-cycle continuum, <br />residents feel safe, secure, and stable in their housing, and are not cost-burdened by their housing <br />ensuring economic success for households at all income levels; and <br />Qbhf!5!pg!33: <br /> <br />
