<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City <br />Council of the city of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly <br />held on the 11th day of March, 1991, at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Cushman, Maschka, Johnson, Thomas, <br />and Rog, and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8669 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF CONTINUING THE FIREFIGHTER <br />TRAINING AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE PROGRAMS AT <br />NORTHEAST METROPOLITAN TECHNICAL COLLEGE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Firefighter training and emergency medical care staff and <br />programs are slated to be eliminated at Northeast Metropolitan <br />Technical college; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Firefighter training is important in Roseville to maintain a <br />proficient fire service capability for the safety of the public; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Local, State, and Federal requirements mandate Firefighter <br />training on a continuing basis; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1990, Roseville Firefighters spent 1,876 student hours in <br />Technical College classes, which is 33 percent of all training time <br />spent by Firefighters, and exceeds 23 hours per Fire Department member <br />on average; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, no other cost effective vehicle is available to provide this <br />training to Roseville Firefighters; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we are sure that the budget cuts outlined by the Governor and <br />Legislature were not intended to severely affect this area which could <br />have such a negative impact on the safety of the public and emergency <br />service workers; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council <br />endorses the fire training and emergency medical care programs <br />supplied to Roseville Firefighters through Northeast Metropolitan <br />Technical College and the Technical College system. We consider these <br />programs vital to public safety in this community. Their continued <br />availability is necessary to provide a knowledgeable and proficient <br />fire service capability to Roseville residents. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Member Thomas, and upon a vote being taken thereon, the <br />following voted in favor thereof: Cushman, Maschka, Johnson, Thomas, <br />and Rog, and the following voted against the same: None. <br /> <br />WHEREUPON said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />
