<br />Roseville honors several athletes <br /> <br />The Roseville City Council hon- <br />ored several Roseville area ath- <br />letes and teams at a recent meet- <br />ing. Here are those athletes: <br />· Roseville girls' basketball <br />team: The Raiders made it to the <br />state Class AA tournament for the <br />second straight year. Team mem- <br />bers were Angie ffilling, Kristin <br />Woods, Tracy Fessenden, Mar- <br />rya Briggs, Farah wUUams, Alli- <br />son Chaplin, Joey Mallin, Tina <br />Eba, Sara Rohr, Ann Yunker, <br />Laura Witte, Amy Weber, Kelly <br />Klecker, Heidi Skrypek, Tina <br />Sydow and Suzanne Boehland. <br />The Raiders are coached by Bob <br />Erdman. <br />· Midway speedskating team: <br />The Midway team was honored by <br />putting Roseville on the speedslcat- <br />ing map, nationally and interna- <br />tionally. <br />. Randy Bartz, an accomplished <br />short-track skater, qualified for the <br /> <br />the 1994 Olympics in the 5,000 <br />relay by winning the bronze medal <br />at the University Games in Poland. <br />Bartz placed 17th at the World <br />Short Track meet in Beijing, Chi- <br />na. <br />. · Peggy Clausen, who placed <br />12th in the Overall World Sprint <br />Championships, has qualified for <br />the last two Olympic long~track <br />teams. <br />· Carrie Johmon, another past <br />Olympian, recently won the North <br />American Championship in the <br />intermediate girls' division in <br />speedskating. <br />· Eric Carrier, a senior at <br />Roseville Area High School, <br />recently made the National long- <br />track speedskating team and fin- <br />isbed second in the intermediate <br />men's division in the long-track <br />championships at Lake Placid, <br />N.Y. <br />· Cami Phillippi, Alissa Daire <br /> <br />and Sbantell Doree, of the <br />Roseville Gymnastics Association, <br />recently became the first RGA <br />members to reach Level 9 - the <br />third highest level in the United <br />State Gymnastics Federation. <br />All three qualified for the state <br />gymnastics tournament and their <br />teams placed third in the Sweet- <br />heart Invitational in Omaha, Neb. <br />Doree also qualified for the <br />regional championship. <br />· Mike Maristuen, a senior at <br />Roseville Area High School, was a <br />finalist for the Mr. Hockey Award <br />this season. Maristuen was the <br />leading scorer for the Raiders and <br />was selected the All-State team. <br />He has signed a letter of intent to . <br />play hockey at St. Cloud State <br />University. Maristuen recently <br />. played in the Maroon and Gold <br />All-Star Series. <br />
