The City requires that all work in the City be done by <br />licensed contractors. <br /> <br />2. Licensing is required for all residential building and <br />remodeling contractors who provide only one service, with the <br />exception of residential roofing and manufactured home <br />installer contractors who must be licensed by the MN Dept. of <br />Commerce. Commercial building and remodeling contractors are <br />also licensed by the city. <br /> <br />3. Licenses are renewed on an annual basis. <br /> <br />4. Attached is a list of contractors who have requested 1994 <br />contractor's licenses. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Approve the list of contractors as listed. <br /> <br />2. Deny licenses of any or all of the attached licenses. <br /> <br />Policy Objectives: <br /> <br />The licensing of contractors insures that contractors are properly <br />licensed, have the proper insurance, and complete their work in a <br />workman like manner in conformance with all codes. The city can <br />deny or revoke a license for noncompliance. <br /> <br />Financial Implications: <br /> <br />1. Fees are obtained for each contractor license issued. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendations: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the city Council approve the issuance <br />of contractors license for all of the contractors shown on the <br />attached list. <br /> <br />council Action Requested: <br /> <br />1. Motion to approve issuance of contractors license for those <br />contractors on the attached list. <br />
