<br />CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />AN ORDINANCE NO. 1050 <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />ROSEVILLE, BY PROVIDING CERTAIN HIRING PRACTICES. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Roseville, Minnesota, <br /> <br />does hereby ordain: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Section 254.095 Employment Hiring Practices, of the <br /> <br />City Code of the City of Roseville is hereby amended as follows: <br /> <br />Section 254.095. Employment Hiring Practices. <br />The City Manager shall select candidates for <br />employment for the City of Roseville based <br />solely on ability of the candidate, <br />consistent with the best interests of the <br />City. The City Manager shall not <br />discriminate against any candidate for <br />possible employment by reason of race, color, <br />creed, religion, national origin, sex, <br />marital status, status with regard to public <br />assistance, membership or activity in a local <br />commission, disabilty, or age. <br /> <br />The employment of relatives within a <br />department of the city is prohibited, with <br />limited exceptions in the case of temporary <br />positions. Exceptions can be authorized by <br />the City Manager for the employment of <br />relatives in a temporary position only if the <br />following conditions are met. <br />(a) The person is not a relative of a <br />regular part-time or full-time employee in <br />the departmentj and <br /> <br />(b) The person is the only qualified <br />person available. <br /> <br />For the purpose of this ordinance, persons <br />are deemed to be relatives if their rela- <br />tionship to each other is that of spouse, <br />parent/child, grandparent/grandchild, <br />siblings, or in-laws. <br />
