<br />60 <br /> <br />, <br />, <br /> <br />SECTIon 6 <br /> <br />It shall be the duty of the Chief, when the weather permits, to hold a practice <br />drill not less than once each month of at least one hour's duration for the fire <br />department and to give the firemen instruction in approved methods of fire fighting <br />and fire prevention. <br /> <br />SECTIon 7 <br /> <br />In the absence or disability of the Chief, an Assistant Chief shall perform all <br />the functions and exercise all of the authority of the Chief. <br /> <br />SEmTION 8 <br /> <br />The Assistant Chiefs and firemen shall be not less than twenty-one (21) nor <br />more than fifty-five (55) years of age and able-bodied. They shall became members <br />of the fire department only after a six (6)-months' probationary period. The <br />council may require that each candidate, before he may become a probationary fire- <br />man, must satisfy certain minimum requirements of height, weight, education and any <br />other qualifications which may be specified by the council; and that he must pass a <br />satisfactory mental and physical examination. All members of the fire department <br />shall be residents of the Village of Roseville. <br /> <br />SECTION 9 <br /> <br />Firemen absent frClll three consecutive drills or calls, unless excused by the <br />Chief, shall forfeit membership in the department. <br /> <br />SECTIOn 10 <br /> <br />The members and officers of the fire department shall receive compensation <br />as follows: <br />Chief, $3.00 for the first hour- $2.00 per hour thereafter. <br />Assistant Chiefs, $2.00 per hour. <br />Firemen, $2.00 per hnur. <br />Probationary firemen" $2.00 per hour. <br />Fire 1,~rshal, $2.00 per hour. <br />Assistant Fire 1~rshall, $2.00 per hour. <br /> <br />SECTIon 11 <br /> <br />In computing compensation for fires" one hour shall be considered as the <br />minimum to be paid any fireman or officer. Only such men as respond to an alarm <br />and whose n~es are certified to on the payroll by the CP1ef are entitled to re- <br />ceive compensation. <br /> <br />SECTION 12 <br /> <br />Persons who are members of the fire department at the time of the adoption <br />of this ordinance shall not be required to serve a probationary period before <br />receiving firemen's rating. <br /> <br />SECTION 13 <br /> <br />The members and officers of the fire department shall organize themselves <br />into a Firemen t s Relief Association. <br />
