<br />VILLAGE OF ROSEVILLE <br />ORDINANCE NO. 691 <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 232 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE <br />VILLAGE OF ROSEVILLE RELATING TO THE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br /> <br />The Village Council of the Village of Roseville doe s hereby ordain. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Chapter 232 of the Village Code of the Village of Roseville is amended <br /> <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />232.010. Volunteer Fire Department Established. There is established <br />a Volunteer Fire Department consisting of a Chief, two Deputy Chiefs, <br />two A ssistant Fire Marshals and not less than 15 nor more than 60 <br />firefighters. The Chief, with the approval of the Council, shall <br />determine the number of members of said department within the limits <br />herein set forth. <br /> <br />232.020. Election of Certain Officials. The Chief of the department <br />and the two deputy chiefs, shall be elected annually by the members <br />of the department subject to confirmation by the Council. Each shall <br />hold his office for one year and until his successor has been duly <br />elected, except that he may be removed by the Council for cause, and <br />after a public hearing. <br /> <br />232.030. Appointment of Firefighters. Firefighters and probationary <br />firefighters shall be appointed by the members of the department subject <br />to confirmation by the Council. Firefighters shall continue as members <br />of the department during good behavior, and may be removed by the <br />Council only for cause and after a public hearing; except within the <br />limits set forth in Section 232.010, the members of the department <br />may be reduced, and in that event members may be removed without <br />cause and without public hearing. Provided, however that the members <br />shall be removed in the inverse order to their seniority in the department. <br /> <br />232.040. Duties of Certain Officers. The office of Fire Marshal or <br />Assistant Fire Marshal may be held by the Chief or by a Deputy Chief, <br />if the Council by resolution approves. The Fire Marshal or the Assistant <br />Fire Marshal shall be charged with the enforcement of all laws aimed <br />at fire prevention, and shall have full authority to inspect all premises <br />and to cause removal or abatement of all fire hazards. <br />
