<br />ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />page#19 <br /> <br />Wednesday, June 6, 1990 <br /> <br />Nayes: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />other Business <br /> <br />Ordinance amendment to clarify outside storage requirements. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Shardlow read the proposed ordinance amendment and summarized the <br />background and need for the amendment. <br /> <br />DeBenedet moved and Goedeke seconded to recommend approval of an <br />ordinance to clarify standards which are applied when reviewing <br />requests for special use permits for outside storage and <br />merchandising. <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Stokes, Roberts, DeBenedet, Wietecki, <br />Berry, Goedeke, Johnson <br /> <br />Nayes: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Ordinance amendment to allow marinas as a special use in a R-1 <br />zoning district. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Shardlow summarized the background and need for the proposed <br />amendment. <br /> <br />Johnson pointed out that this is an amendment to the ordinance <br />and not a review of any specific site. <br /> <br />Johnson pointed out that under the ordinance, anyone can come in <br />and be considered for a special use permit on its own merits. <br /> <br />DeBenedet stated that a special use can't be turned down without <br />some public welfare justification. <br /> <br />Shardlow stated that special use permit uses are uses generally <br />permitted with certain conditions. <br /> <br />DeBenedet stated that anyone else could come in and attempt to <br />set up a marina. Shardlow replied that they could apply for <br />special use permits to do it and that the City could set <br />performance standards which must be met. <br /> <br />DeBenedet questioned whether the existing marina on Lake Owasso <br />could continue as is as a non-conforming use. Shardlow replied <br />that they could continue only on the original lot. <br />
