Shardlow said that it would help, especially the berm and <br />wall. <br /> <br />Bahnemann questioned the height of the sandpile cover. Shardlow <br />stated that it was approximately 10 feet above the wall, well <br />within the height limitation. <br /> <br />Bahnemann questioned the cost the cost of the building. <br />stated that $650,000 to $800,000 is budgeted. <br /> <br />Gatlin <br /> <br />Bahnemann stated that it isn't a cold storage building. He <br />stated that the building is unneeded and is too close to the <br />street. <br /> <br />Gatlin replied that the ventilation system will keep the building <br />at a constant 40 degrees. <br /> <br />Johnson testified that this area needed to be cleaned up. <br />wietecki commented that the project is an improvement although he <br />doesn't like giving variances. He stated that a PUD for the <br />entire civic center campus is needed. <br /> <br />Johnson stated she wished it was farther from the road. <br /> <br />Shardlow stated that the Commission could recommend approval of <br />variances and recommend the creation of a civic center master <br />plan. Gatlin agreed with this statement. <br /> <br />Roberts stated that he agreed with Shardlow and Wietecki's <br />statements. <br /> <br />MOTION <br /> <br />Berry moved and Roberts seconded to recommend approval of the <br />variances with the conditions that the painted block be bricked <br />and that a civic Center master plan be developed. <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Berry, Goedeke, Johnson, Roberts, <br />Stokes, wietecki <br /> <br />Nayes: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Other Business <br /> <br />Stokes questioned whether a capital expenditure was submitted for <br />the garage addition.
