Planning Commission Minutes
January 10, 1996

Welsch stated that video tapes are being prepared to provide Planning Commission
members with ideas about alternative housing density.

Chairman Wietecki stated that it would be appropriate for the Commissioners to view the
tapes and then bring an expert in to discuss pros and cons of what works and what doesn't
work, what are the issues brought out by different density alternatives, and finally take a
tour of sites in the Twin Cities area.

It was the consensus of the Commission that an expert be brought in at either the
February or March meeting and that the tour be conducted in the first week of May.

8.

(d)

Uses by zoning district.

Welsch summarized a report and noted that there are some inconsistencies in the City
ordinance. Welsch pointed out that City Planner Mike Falk will come back with ideas
concerning inconsistencies in residential areas. Once direction is received from the
Planning Commission, ordinance changes will be drafted. Welsch also pointed out that
the results of the discussion will be used in a zoning workbook.

Chairman Wietecki asked the impact of the Rosedale tax decision on the assessed
valuation. Member Thein stated that valuation has stabilized or is moving up despite the
tax decision.

9. Adjournment:

The meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.

9
