The two maintenance projects scheduled for this year are:

On Fairview Avenue, from Larpenteur to County Road B, they
plan to recycle the pavement (remove it, grind it up and put it
back). The one improvement that will be made is the southbound
lane of Fairview at County Road B will be widened slightly. This
project will begin late May, early June.

Dale Street is a possible project this year to have the pavement
recycled. It is currently striped for four lanes, but they are
considering changing it to a three lane road. The Commission
discussed various options. A public information meeting will most
likely be held to get resident input.

Soler then updated the Commission on County Road C. Phase one is
Snelling to Long Lake Road, which should be ready for reconstruction this
fall. The road will not be torn up this fall.

Member Wilke questioned whether people complained when Hwy 36
breaks down that traffic is too heavy on County Roads B, B-2 and C and
wondered if considering that would change the plans for county road
upgrades. Soler stated that there are portions of County Road B that can
take extra traffic if necessary, and also that traffic counts on east-west
routes have been pretty steady for awhile.

Issues that need to be addressed are consolidating some of the commercial
driveways off of C over the railroad tracks, and the Lexington intersection
needs to widened.

Member Wilke asked about the timetable. Soler said it has a sunset date
for letting at the end of September 2004. The project needs to be
developed this year. Phase one will be from the end of this year, finishing
in early 2005. Phase two will start late in 2004 and have construction in
2005.

The next step is that Soler will go before the City Council on May 12 to
update them on County Road C and get feedback, which will be followed
up with a public information meeting.

Terminal Road/St. Croix Street is another project for which the county has
funding.

Member Marasteanu asked if there were any plans for County Road B or
B2 east and west of Lexington, which he thinks is in bad condition. Soler
said he thought there was a plan to do mill and overlay on that section.
Bloom said it might be impacted depending on whether the state initiates a
Lexington Avenue Bridge reconstruction.
