(

2002 Referendum

On Election Day, Roseville citizens will vote on a referendum on the sale of$9 million in bonds to
bring public safety and public works facilities in Roseville up to state and federal standards and to
cost-effectively and efficiently meet future needs. This flyer provides details about the funding re-
quest so that you can make an informed decision when you go to the polls on November 5.

Police

What is the need:
./ Private areas for investigators to hold confidential tele-
phone conversations or interviews with victims and
witnesses (see photo at right).

./ Increase the number of Sally Ports to four allows police
officers to safely transport criminals to locked holding
cells. It reduces flight risk and helps ensure the safety
of police and the public.

./ Federal law mandates that juveniles be kept separate
from adult criminals and men be kept separate from
women. Currently police officers must shuffle people in
custody to accommodate the others who are arrested.

Currently victims and witnesses are
interviewed in public areas where
others can overhear what is being
said.

./ Detention area directly accessible from the Sally Ports would help police to keep criminals
separate from victims and witnesses.

./ Space for officers to access latest technological advances in crime mapping that can track up to
the minute information on various crimes.

./ Record storage area that would ensure confi-
dentiality and would allow for multi-year stor-
age. Staff would be able to retrieve police
reports more quickly.

./ Add a night entrance to Police Department to
improve access and provide safety for someone
waiting for the police.

The Cost
If the referendum is successful, the City will
begin remodeling in spring 2003. The impact
of a $9 million referendum would be divided
among all property owners in Roseville over
a period of 15 years.

Value of Property
$125,000
$150,000
$165,000

Monthly Tax Impact
$3
$3.58
$4

;1tediirf Re.ric!elfu> l/Veec!.r fOF IHr!FOf.!'ec!
