<br />Member Willenbring asked if the shelters are placed so as to provide as much <br />coverage from bad weather as possible. Piernot said they do the best that they <br />can as there are a number of different positions shelters can be placed to provide <br />the best windbreak. <br /> <br />Member Wilke asked for information on which stops had the most riders. <br />Piernot said that Metro Transit doesn't keep track of those figures. He also said <br />Metro Transit is way behind on installing bus shelters and has no funding. <br /> <br />Member Willenbring asked how much time it takes to move a shelter. Piernot <br />stated it can be done in four hours and explained how it is done. <br /> <br />Member Rossini asked about external lighting on the shelters. Piernot said that <br />they've already talked with Xcel about bringing electric power to shelters and <br />will be working with them on installation. <br /> <br />Piernot said they do not dictate the design of the shelters. They offer the shelter <br />amenity and then work with the city to develop whatever design works for <br />them. <br /> <br />Schwartz said that if the Commission is not ready at this time to give <br />recommendations, the item can be brought back at another meeting. Since the <br />City Council is going to visit this issue on June 21, Member Anderson <br />suggested the Commission have a special meeting to discuss the issue and come <br />up with recommendations. Schwartz suggested moving the regular July <br />meeting up two weeks so there would only be one meeting in the month. It was <br />decided to meet on Thursday, July 10. <br /> <br />Member Wilke asked about US Bench, will they have to pull their benches out <br />to make room for the shelters. Schwartz said that was something the Council <br />would be deciding on the 21st. Member Wilke asked if the Commission could <br />hear from the US Bench people, getting more input to make decisions. <br /> <br />Scott Danielson, US Bench, briefly gave information on the services his <br />company provides. Danielson said there's usually room for both benches and <br />shelters. Member Wilke said he was concerned about two companies <br />maintaining the same corner. Danielson said there's never been a problem. <br /> <br />8. Update on City Hall Building Project <br /> <br />Schwartz updated the Commission on construction progress. <br /> <br />9.
