<br />Member Wilke asked ifthere are any maintenance guidelines in the city <br />pernlit. Schwartz said there weren't. <br /> <br />Member Willenbring asked Schwartz if there have been any complaints <br />about the benches. Schwartz said that he doesn't know of any specific <br />complaint about bus benches in Roseville. <br /> <br />Member Anderson asked Schwartz ifhe thinks shelters and benches have <br />coexisted without any problems. Schwartz said he hasn't heard of any real <br />conflicts. <br /> <br />Len Thiel, Government Liaison with US Bench, spoke and said there are <br />many times they get called and requested to put a bench in a certain area. <br /> <br />Commission members discussed ADA requirements for shelters and <br />benches. Schwartz pointed out the Outdoor Promotions infornlation from <br />their packets that listed the ADA guidelines they go by. <br /> <br />Discussion began about how to pick shelter locations. MTC doesn't have <br />information on bus stop usage. Member Wilke suggested that shelters <br />should go at the corners of major streets, such as Dale and Co Rd B, so the <br />shelter would act as a magnet. Member Willenbring said he thought <br />whatever businesses were at the corner were the magnet so even ifit's a <br />busy intersection, there have to be businesses or residential areas to have <br />bus riders. <br /> <br />While discussing whether there's a need for public hearings in placing a <br />shelter, Member Wilke suggested they have a standard public hearing on <br />all shelters. Member Willenbring suggested that they have one public <br />hearing for a group oflocations. <br /> <br />Per Roger Williams, Outdoor Promotions, all shelters will be lighted so no <br />discussion was necessary on that point. <br /> <br />Member Anderson questioned how they determine where the need for <br />shelters is when there's no data regarding ridership. Member Wilke said it <br />could be based on the regulations of where buses stop. <br /> <br />Member Willenbring questioned whether the shelters would be placed for <br />advertisement purposes only and not for bus ridership convenience. <br />Member Anderson said that our criteria for shelters should definitely <br />include the fact that shelters would be placed for rider convenience. <br /> <br />Member Rossini asked if there was already criteria set up for what type of <br />advertising would be allowed on the shelters, would it be local or national. <br />At this point there is not. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />
