Here it is:

it in this week's paper. If you
by tonight's meeting I would

AS a member of the Public works and Transportation commission, I feel that I should
shed some light on the single-stream recycling contract currently being discussed
down at city Hall. It was after all our comml~sion that came up .with the
~ecommend8tion to the City council to stay with Waste Management, as they would be
. the only vendor who cQuld support single-stream recycling ln Rosevi.lle. what we
:.a4so recommended, however, was that Waste Mahagement conduct a single-stream pilot
program first, before implementing the entire city on single-stream. It is the
prudent thi ng to do . Other. communi t'i es have, been afforded an opportuni ty to have' a
pilot program, and why shouldn't Roseville have'that same opportunity? pilot .
programs are very beneficial in that they can provide a board or council with the
raw data and evidence it needs to make an informed decision. A pilot might also
serve to quell any lingering questions that citizens might have about sWltching from
the current two sort system to one.

I used to think that single-stream was the wave of the future, but it is actually
already here. TO even be completely honest, it is probably unavoidable. But why
the sudden rush by the City Council to push for the implementation of the entire
city, and not a pilot program as recommended by the Public Works commission? I'm
still trying to figure that one out, and I am even a single-stream proponent. I
just wou19 like the city council to heed more closely the recommendation of one of
lts own cltlzen advisory commissions.

Todd Anderson
Roseville

******* confidentiality Notice *******
This email, its electronic document attachments, and the contents of its website
linkages may contain confidential health information.
